Ladies Weekend, Winter Edition

Image
Life gets busy as we all get older, and spending times with friends sometimes requires extensive planning and forethought.  It's just a reality, one that we have to get used to.  No longer are the days that we could hang out all day, on a whim.  Where a trip to the mall turned into lunch, a movie, some coffee or ice cream, and hanging out at someone's house.  When we'd spend every night of the summer together, doing something or other to entertain ourselves.  Those were the good ol' days for sure. Circa 1999.  Don't hate me, friends, for sharing.  :)   Okaaaaay, they weren't good because of our fashion or hair styles (clearly).  I had a hard time finding a really great one of us from the "good ol' days" - most of my photos are packed away somewhere.  Plus I'm not convinced we'd think any of them are "great" now anyways.  But those days really were good because we got to spend most...

Reliving Spain

I will always have a special place for Spain in my heart.   I think about it pretty regularly, when I’m working with my clients from Madrid, or when I see status updates from my host sister and/or friends I made there. One dear friend in particular messaged me the other day and we reminisced a little, which then made me pull out my scrapbook.  Memories started flooding back.  Memories I’ll probably forget someday.  So, I thought I’d capture some of them here.  After all, it’s far more interesting than anything else right now. 11 years ago almost to the day, I was on a plane to Madrid, kicking off the start of an amazing 6 months abroad.  I had high expectations for this experience, and it did not disappoint.  We were met by our program staff (one of which turned out to also be my host sister), toured around Madrid, and then made our way to our final destination: Granada.  Oh Granada.  This city is so charming and stunning and full ...

I tried crawfish and oysters. They weren’t bad, and mostly tasted like the lemon I doused them with first. 2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t think I set any last year. At least not that I can remember. This year, I’d like to get back into better shape, but that’s just a typical goal “post-holidays.” I’m not very good with resolutions. If it’s something really important to me, I’ll do my best to be successful regardless if I name it as a resolution right now.   3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes, three good friends had beautiful babies this year, and my best friend had her second boy a mere day before 2012 began so that counts too. 4. Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully, no. 5. What places did you visit? I was som...
