Eleven months

I'm feeling very verklempt. My baby is almost ONE. I mean, look at this difference. Gulp. This last month was full of changes, even more so than the past few months. Which is saying a lot, considering this kid is growing and developing and blossoming in leaps and bounds. First, getting the boo hoo hoo part out of the way: Carter has pretty much self-weaned from nursing. There were tears (on my part), but I now feel peace knowing this was HIS decision. I can't argue with that. I was away two nights on business last month, and ever since, he has refused to nurse at bedtime or during the day (biting me and giggling instead). It seems he will only nurse if he wakes in the middle of the night, in the dark (aka, half asleep). I’ll take it. My supply took a hit during all of this as well, but I'm determined to produce enough to cover him until he's 1. I've been popping supplements and drinking Mother's Milk tea and eating a zillion lactation cooki...

What a Fall

Image
I love Fall. It's my most favorite season, without a doubt. The cool air, the sweaters and boots, the changing colors, the anticipation of the holidays, the pumpkin flavored everything (which may be getting out of hand these days), the apple picking, the return of TV series, the anniversaries, the birthdays...it's all just so great. And as a bonus this year, I have a wee little one, and new Fall fun to experience with him. And I'm finally getting around to documenting it, on probably our last really nice (late) Fall day. We kicked off our Fall season finally attending Dozinky Days in my mom's hometown. We had never been, all these years growing up, and I was shocked at how big of a deal it is. Thousands of people (and bees) flocked Main Street, and yet we still ran into at least 10 of my extended family members that I don't see often enough. My cousin saved us a spot for the parade, and we had a great time with them. I'd say Carter enjoyed his first parade...

Day in the Life - Fall 2015

Day in the Life time again! Participating in  My Life in Transition 's round-up. ------------ Sunday, October 11, 2015 Carter is almost 10 months old. 5:20am | I wake to hearing Carter talk in his crib. A feeling of dread comes over me that we are starting our day now (yesterday, he was up at 4:45am to nurse and refused to go back to sleep), and yet I can't ignore the fact that I just got 7 straight hours of sleep. Fortunately, he quiets back down for another snooze. 5:50am | Carter is up again, this time banging his extra pacifier on the side of the crib. It's a lovely sound at this hour. ;) I stumble out of bed, put on some warm layers and head into his room. Provided it's at a decent hour, like today, it's my most favorite moment of each day. Carter is sooo excited to see me and starts jumping. Diaper change (Olympic-style) and he's off before I can get anything on but a new diaper. Of course, there are tissues and nose bulb syringes to play ...
