Charm

Stillwater is a charming little city. And the perfect place to spend the day with my sweetheart!

Yesterday we started out the day getting massages, which definitely set us off on the right foot. The masseuse worked out some awful knots that I've had in my back, to which I was ever grateful. Their schpeel to join their membership and get a massage every month was tempting, but neither of us could really justify it. So off we went, knot-free for the time being. And relaxed.

We then spent the afternoon wandering around downtown Stillwater. I love this place! I hadn't ever really been there, aside from attending a fabulous wedding there a year+ ago, so I was looking forward to strolling the quaint downtown streets. And it did not disappoint. The sun was shining, the air was fresh, and it felt like we had taken a step back in time. Quite different from the modern suburbia and chain stores that we usually frequent.

We browsed through several charming boutiques, antique shops, and book stores. It was a nice change in pace - no hurry, no agenda. We didn't buy anything, except a delicious key lime cheesecake mix that I look forward to making one day. The kitchen store there is AH-mazing. A cook's heaven, I'd say. It made me wish I loved cooking more, although I would definitely now be broke if that were the case.

We came across a darling old diner called Leo's, known apparently for their ice cream and malts. So we had dinner - old fashion hamburgers and fries - and then shared a delicious strawberry malt. On sale for Valentine's Day. Score!


All in all, it was a great Saturday in a charming city with my sweetheart. Three years ago tomorrow, a cute guy winked at me online...and he became the love of my life. Life is good. :)

    Sounds like a perfect day to me too (I am jealous)! Stillwater is such a cool city, glad you were able to take a day to stroll around the town!

Day in the Life - Fall 2015

Day in the Life time again! Participating in  My Life in Transition 's round-up. ------------ Sunday, October 11, 2015 Carter is almost 10 months old. 5:20am | I wake to hearing Carter talk in his crib. A feeling of dread comes over me that we are starting our day now (yesterday, he was up at 4:45am to nurse and refused to go back to sleep), and yet I can't ignore the fact that I just got 7 straight hours of sleep. Fortunately, he quiets back down for another snooze. 5:50am | Carter is up again, this time banging his extra pacifier on the side of the crib. It's a lovely sound at this hour. ;) I stumble out of bed, put on some warm layers and head into his room. Provided it's at a decent hour, like today, it's my most favorite moment of each day. Carter is sooo excited to see me and starts jumping. Diaper change (Olympic-style) and he's off before I can get anything on but a new diaper. Annabel - 18 months

Oh what a year and a half it has been with this little lady! And because I'm a sucker for comparisons... My sweet girl. She is the definition of sugar and spice, and I love every ounce of her. Since I haven't really captured much about her lately, here it goes: Annabel is a full-fledged toddler, climbing chairs to reach light switches, running around outdoors, wanting to walk up the stairs with minimal help, ordering us around, refusing to follow the rules, throwing some pretty epic tantrums... my baby is no more. She still loves to carry things in her hands. She will pick up just about anything in sight (remotes, a sock, paper, toys) and carry them around. If she finds another item she wants to grab, she piles everything up in one arm against her chest so she can grab it with the other hand. Then it all spills and she tries again. If you give her a bowl with crackers, she will fit every last cracker in her hand immediately and then nibble at them as she...
