Baby #2 | 16 weeks

Image
This baby is already getting the second child treatment, and he/she has only been in existence for a matter of weeks. With my first pregnancy, I had already blogged AND taken several bump photos by the time I was 16 weeks. This time? I've taken two bump photos, at 9 weeks and just this week, and only now started writing about it. Guess that can happen when you're not entering entirely new territory. 9 weeks (and photobombed) But I can’t have this elaborate book about my pregnancy with Carter and not this second one, can I? I’m pretty sure this kid wouldn’t mind, but the perfection/order-seeker in me feels unbalanced if I don’t do the same for both. Plus, I do know I would look back on this fondly, remembering what life was like right now, growing this sweet child. So fine. I’ll blog. And someday make another Shutterfly book. I have finally turned a corner with the change in trimester. I have more energy and don’t feel like I’m constantly sleep deprived, an...

Here we go again!

I've been trying to come up with something clever to start this post, but my brain power just quite isn't the same. Not since I became pregnant again. There it is.  I am still a bit in disbelief. I'm pregnant. We had always hoped to have two children, even more so since having Carter and seeing how incredibly awesome he is. And now we are just thrilled that it's a dream come true! A little partner in crime for Carter. We started telling immediate family and close friends pretty quickly for a few reasons. My sister and family were leaving town soon, and why would I want to share this news over Skype in several weeks when in person was an option? Also, both sets of our parents happened to be coming over 4th of July already, so it was a prime (equal) opportunity to spill the beans. Oh, and I had a girls' weekend in Chicago planned the next weekend and no desire to try to fake drink. Not to mention that our daycare provider was in the midst of potentially...

A summer recap

Image
This summer. It flew by. And was filled with so much fun! We spent a lot of time with my sister and her family, who were in town to have a baby (which sounds hilarious, but so true). These boys bonded, big time. (heart eyes) And I couldn't get enough of this tiny but fast growing squishy new nephew of mine. Let's see. I made Jon take some photos of me, so Carter would have some evidence that his mother was present during his toddler years. Besides selfies, of course. Carter created the grand ol' game of piling blankets and pillows on his lap...and then breaking out of them only to repeat. And he survived his 18-month shots with just a few tears and a tasty sucker that I threw away as we exited the clinic and he nearly lost his mind. I went to Chicago with some of my best girlfriends and we had a blast. Book of Mormon = two thumbs up! I golfed. Once. We hit the splash pad with the whole K/H/A crew. Carter ran into the blast...

18 months

Image
My sweet, sweet Carter. Now 18-months-old. (I just mistakenly typed "years" instead of "months" and had a brief panic attack. I'm sure it'll feel like tomorrow he is that old). Anyway. I just can't believe it. I loved the monthly photos we did in his first year, and decided I'd try to continue them for his half and whole birthdays for as long as he's willing to go along with it. I'm sure it won't last long, but wouldn't that be a riot to see him sitting by the teddy bear as a teenager? Hehehe. Here is a comparison I did (and now find myself swooning over...my baby!!). I mean, TIME. Really. Do you have to happen so quickly? According to his most recent check-up, Carter is 25 pounds and 32 inches. A bit shorter than the average kid, but he seems big to me so I'm not sure who these giant children are that fit into the 50%+. He sobbed during his two shots, though it started when I had to pin him down on the exam table, ...
