Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving! On a day where we gather with family, stuff ourselves with delicious food, and then scour the newspaper ads to make a game plan for Christmas shopping, I don't want to forget the real reason for this day. And this year, I have a lot to be thankful for.

First and foremost (this year), I'm thankful for this baby we are expecting. A day doesn't go by that we don't recognize the blessing that it is to become a parent, to bring life into the world, and to be able to grow our family. This child was so prayed and hoped for, and to be thankful that he/she is almost here in the outside world seems like an understatement.
 

I'm also thankful for a healthy pregnancy. Despite a few hiccups (ie placenta previa scare) and some very unpleasant pregnancy "side affects" for lack of a better word, I have no complaints. I am healthy and baby is healthy. Now we look forward to a positive birth experience and holding this child.



My husband is right up there on my thankful list as well. I can't imagine life without him, and am so grateful he winked at me online almost 7 years ago. I so look forward to seeing him become a father, and see how our relationship evolves over time.

Family and friends are definitely on my list. I'm thankful for both my family and my husband's, for their love and support, for their generosity, their sense of humor, their friendship, their time, their interest...  And our friends? They are pretty fabulous, and my life would have a deep void if they were not in it.



A stable job, a house, a car, and life's luxuries...these things do not go unacknowledged either.  I should reflect on my gratitude for them more often than I do.


Yes, I have a lot to be thankful for this year.

    Well said Lisa. Yes we do have a lot to be thankful for and today is a good day to remember that. I am mostly so grateful for my two wonderful daughters and the husbands they have chosen.

Day in the Life - Fall 2015

Day in the Life time again! Participating in  My Life in Transition 's round-up. ------------ Sunday, October 11, 2015 Carter is almost 10 months old. 5:20am | I wake to hearing Carter talk in his crib. A feeling of dread comes over me that we are starting our day now (yesterday, he was up at 4:45am to nurse and refused to go back to sleep), and yet I can't ignore the fact that I just got 7 straight hours of sleep. Fortunately, he quiets back down for another snooze. 5:50am | Carter is up again, this time banging his extra pacifier on the side of the crib. It's a lovely sound at this hour. ;) I stumble out of bed, put on some warm layers and head into his room. Provided it's at a decent hour, like today, it's my most favorite moment of each day. Annabel - 18 months

Oh what a year and a half it has been with this little lady! And because I'm a sucker for comparisons... My sweet girl. She is the definition of sugar and spice, and I love every ounce of her. Since I haven't really captured much about her lately, here it goes: Annabel is a full-fledged toddler, climbing chairs to reach light switches, running around outdoors, wanting to walk up the stairs with minimal help, ordering us around, refusing to follow the rules, throwing some pretty epic tantrums... my baby is no more. She still loves to carry things in her hands. She will pick up just about anything in sight (remotes, a sock, paper, toys) and carry them around. If she finds another item she wants to grab, she piles everything up in one arm against her chest so she can grab it with the other hand. Then it all spills and she tries again. If you give her a bowl with crackers, she will fit every last cracker in her hand immediately and then nibble at them as she...
