Annabel - Seven months

Image
Surpassing the half year mark feels monumental to me. We survived the first 6 months with two little children. I'd say for the most part we actually thrived! Annabel continues to bless us with her giant smiles and loud belly laughs. At her 6-month appointment she weighed 18.9 pounds (86%) and was 27.5 inches long (93%). Wearing mostly 9-month clothing and size 3 diapers. Overall, she's calm and collected, observant and chill, and just goes with the flow of whatever we are doing as a family. Out to dinner? Sure, I'll just hang in my carseat and people watch while you guys eat. Need to run errands during nap time? Don't worry, I can snooze in the car. Time to bathe Carter? I'll lay on the rug - just give me something to chew on.  A waiter commented recently that he'd never seen such a good baby at dinner. We often don't think about it, because it's just our normal, but in that moment Jon and I looked at each other and realized once again how b...

Annabel - Six months

We are all just loving on this girl so hard. I can't believe she's half way through her first year of life. Don't let this picture fool you. She can't sit on her own yet. She's lazy, and we keep trying to get her to engage her core and hold herself up. I'm guessing she was on her way to tip over for this photo, as this is what she usually looks like: Or this: Overall, Annabel continues to be our happy baby. She wakes up with a smile on her face, and not much gets her down from there. Sure, she gets a bit fussy when she's overtired (because she refuses to nap unless held) or if she's taken away from her mama in the evening. But the majority of the time, she is content. We really lucked out. Her hair is amazing. It stands straight up all on it's own. We are going on month 3 of drooling and chewing, and yet I almost always forget to put a bib on her so she ends up soaked. Watching her go nuts chewing on a toy is comical, as she s...

Annabel - Five months

I feel like I start each monthly post gushing about how amazing Annabel is, but I can't help it. She is. At her 4-month appointment a couple weeks ago, she was 16.5 pounds and 25.5 inches long. Right at the 80%, which is where she's held steady since birth. She's wearing 6 and 9-month clothing, and I'm loving the fact that 3-mo dresses are now the perfect tops. This was a big month for her gross motor skills, as she learned how to roll from back to belly! It's funny how the instant babies learn that, they flip almost immediately when laid down. So far she will stay on her back at night - maybe wearing a sleep sack helps? But any other time she flips pretty quickly, and cranes her neck to look around the room. It must be a pretty nice new perspective for her. Speaking of perspective, I forget how amazing it is to watch those innocent little eyes dart around exploring the world in a new way. She and I spent a good 20 minutes people-watching at the park, co...
